Understanding the Fact Sheet

Highlights of the Census 2000 Demographic Profiles and the most current American Community Survey Data Profiles are condensed into print ready Fact Sheets. When you select Fact Sheet from the left menu, FactFinder displays a page that lists:

  • General Characteristics - total population, median age, etc.
  • Social Characteristics - foreign-born population, educational attainment, etc.
  • Economic Characteristics - income, poverty, etc.
  • Housing Characteristics - median value, owner costs, etc.
The Fact Sheet page includes links to thematic maps and brief reports or ranking tables related to the data.

  • When available, you can click a thematic map, brief, or ranking table.
  • The map is a visual display of the information.
  • The brief is a report that provides context for a particular topic.
  • The ranking table provides a measure across geographies within the same geographic summary level.
The Fact Sheet for a Race, Ethnic, or Ancestry Group provides access to Census 2000 data for a selected population group. Use the Race, Ethnic, or Ancestry selection page to select a population group.
