American FactFinder displays results in the form of tables and maps. Table formats available in FactFinder include:
  • Quick Tables, Demographic Profiles, and Geography Quick Reports - Display information about a specific topic or industry, for the geographic area that you select (United States, state, county, etc.). These tables provide quick results for Population and Housing, and Economic data.
  • Data Profiles, Comparison Profiles, Subject Tables, and Selected Population Profiles - Display data from the American Community Survey for a single geographic area. Data Profiles display estimates for a single year. Comparison Profiles display percentages that can be compared over time.
  • Geographic Comparison Tables, Ranking Tables, and Industry Quick Reports - Compare data for different geographic areas (for example, to compare Population and Housing data for a state and its counties).
  • Detailed Tables - Summary tables that provide Population and Housing data with greater subject detail, for geographic areas as small as the block level. All Quick Tables and Geographic Comparison Tables are sourced from the Detailed Tables.
  • Custom Tables - Tables you build to your own individual specifications using data from American FactFinder (AFF).
Table formats vary depending on the data set you've selected, but the way you select geographic areas and subjects are similar for all types of FactFinder tables.

To demonstrate these methods, this tutorial will guide you step-by-step through the process of creating a Detailed Table.
